We are attracting former customers back to The Thatched Tavern that haven’t been in some time, and we are attracting new people to the area from all over the UK and beyond. Here’s five reasons why:
Making Maidencombe a tourist destination
We are working with local partners, including a Maidencombe coasteering company, a beach cafe with paddleboard hire, and local B & Bs to promote and share success in attracting new tourists to Maidencombe. Visitors to the area enjoy top-quality accommodation, exhilarating activities, memorable times on the water, and The Thatched Tavern for a lingering lunch or dinner with cold drinks in the pub garden. We now enjoy a mix of 50% local population and 50% tourists and continue to grow the business through word-of-mouth and online review sites.
Location
Just two minutes away from the beach and coastal walks; the location is spectacular. With free car parking to patrons, we are located opposite the lovely village green, tucked neatly in a beautiful little Devon village. Catering to holidaymakers and tourists year-round, our proximity to the SouthWest coast path means that our cosy pub is bustling year-round (we are proud to be a named feature on several circular pub walks). In winter, cosy up in the snug with overstuffed, new leather sofas, exposed stone walls, and a roaring wood stove to warm you through. In summer, enjoy our award-winning pub garden for ice-cold drinks and the freshest salads, Brixham seafood and topped burgers to enjoy the sea view.

A transformed space
A transformed space. We’ve transformed the dining area with luxury We’ve transformed the dining area with luxury furnishings, and the highest quality fittings and finishes. Along the dining room walls are artistic, authentic portraits of our local suppliers, working in their element. These unique portraits tie the dining space to the fresh, local food offering in an elegant, understated way.

The pub garden features festoon lighting that tastefully accentuates the garden’s mature trees, a large covered decking area, and a woodfired pizza oven that extends our food offer; with handmade pizzas during expanded service times.

Investing in our team
A four-seasons pub. Catering to holidaymakers and tourists year-We encourage team development through a fully funded apprenticeship scheme with eight team members qualifying for supervisor, chef and operations management roles. Training days educate staff about the wine list, and provide the opportunity to taste every dish, underpinning our passion for fine food and drink while bringing every team member along on the journey.
