Attracting tourism

We now enjoy a mix of 50% local population and 50% tourists and continue to grow the business through word-of-mouth and online review sites. Since May 2021, we’ve opened our doors to visitors near and far, welcoming local B & B and hotel guests, some booking with us for the entire week to enjoy the full menu. We attract local walkers and beach goers alike with our premises and car park local to the South West Coast path and Maidencombe Beach.

Kitchen-led in everything we do

Expanding the pub garden by 25% this year has led to an increase to 200 covers, however, being kitched-led, we never book more than 10 people in each 15 minute period to allow the kitchen time to freshly prepare each meal bespoke for that customer.

We encourage team development through an apprenticeship scheme This approach means that each customer enjoys fresh, locally sourced food prepared to the highest standard, with a seamless, relaxed and comfortable service experience.

Growth through online channels, within Devon and beyond

We attract customers that are passionate about good food. Our Facebook campaigns have been exceptionally popular, growing from high-demand weekends, to being fully booked every day and night throughout the week. 20% of our bookings now originate from using all Facebook business tools, such as the “Book Now” button, and Messenger chat function. We’ve built up a loyal audience of Facebook fans, mention tagging each other, and are interested in learning about the next promotion announcement. Repeat customers come from beyond Dartmouth and Exeter, up to an hour a way on a regular basis. This year, we are proud to support the Babbacombe and St Marychurch Area Guide with a full-colour back cover advertisement and listing.
